Continental Heads to Punta Cana
Continental Airlines today announced it will begin twice-weekly service between George Bush
Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on
Dec. 16, pending government approval. The new route will complement
Continental’s existing service to Punta Cana from Newark Liberty International
Airport.The new flight will depart Houston at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays,
arriving in Punta Cana at 7:35 p.m. The return flight will depart Punta Cana
at 9:10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays, arriving in Houston at 12 noon. The
flight schedule is timed conveniently to allow for one-stop daylight
connections from the Midwest and West Coast.
Continental will utilize a Boeing 737 with seating for 12 in first class
and 112 in coach on the flight from Houston to Punta Cana, a popular white-
sand beach destination on the Eastern tip of the Dominican Republic. Shaded
by coconut trees, the area features an abundance of all-inclusive hotels.
Attractions include water activities, jungle walks and the Manati Park Bavaro,
a zoo and water park.
Continental currently serves 18 Caribbean destinations from its
international hubs in Houston and New York/Newark, and offers service to seven
additional destinations in the Caribbean through Continental Connections
codeshare flights.
