W Hotels and SIRIUS Expand Deal
W Hotels Worldwide
announced today the
expansion of its partnership with SIRIUS Satellite Radio. In
February of this year, W launched “SIRIUS Suites” in its New York and Los
Angeles properties—becoming the first hotel chain to offer in-room
satellite radio to guests. Beginning August 15th, guests staying in suites at
W properties in Chicago, New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle, and Silicon
Valley will also have the option to tune into any of the over 120
commercial-free channels that SIRIUS offers its listeners.“We are excited to be expanding our relationship with W Hotels Worldwide.
We know that their guests expect the best in amenities and SIRIUS will be able
to provide the best content in music, entertainment, news and sports,” said
Scott Greenstein, SIRIUS President of Entertainment and Sports.
With the nationwide expansion of W’s “SIRIUS Suites,” W guests will no
longer be without their favorite SIRIUS Satellite Radio stations while
traveling. Whether a guest is longing to groove to Caribbean dance music late
night or catch play-by-play sports coverage of their favorite team, SIRIUS
Satellite Radio is directly aligned with W’s “Whatever/Whenever” philosophy.
W will also make the ‘plug-and-play’ Clarion Calypso radios available to
guests through W Hotels The Store, W’s stylish boutique store with locations
in New York, Chicago, and San Diego properties and online at
www.whotelsthestore.com.
“Creating the first Sirius Suites in New York and LA showed W guests that
we were serious about the best and newest entertainment and technology—the
hotels would give them the access they craved,” said Ross Klein, Senior Vice
President, Chief Marketing Officer for W Hotels Worldwide. “Now they’ll stay
plugged in to their favorite music and entertainment in W cities like New
Orleans, Seattle, San Francisco and Chicago—that’s what we mean by
Whatever/Whenever.”
This partnership has evolved since its inception to include SIRIUS’
participation in W’s event series known as “W Happenings”. The musical
component of this program, branded “Live at W”, has included SIRIUS’
live-broadcasts of events featuring artists such as Moby and the Wallflowers.
W New Orleans—French Quarter, also played host to an exclusive
live-broadcast of SIRIUS’ “Heart & Soul 51” segment, where interviews were
conducted with musical artists featured as part of the 2005 Essence Music
Festival. SIRIUS was also incorporated into W’s VIP Lounge at New York’s
Olympus Fashion Week this past February, providing music for W’s backstage
lounge at Bryant Park as well as recording live broadcasts.
