Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts, part of the fast-growing, Brussels-based Rezidor SAS Hospitality, is set to make a comeback in Dubai with a brand new property in the heart of the emirate’s emerging global media hub. Speaking at the Arabian Travel Market today, Kurt Ritter, President and CEO, Rezidor SAS Hospitality, laid out plans to open the Radisson SAS Hotel, Media City later this year.
Ê“The UAE continues to grow in stature as a regional business and leisure hub, and it is important that Radisson SAS is a part of that,” said Ritter. “Our tremendous success with Radisson SAS Resort, Sharjah, has formed a solid foundation which we can build on with this stunning Dubai property.”
The 251-bedroomed property, comprising of two buildings connected by a bridge link, will feature three bars and three restaurants - serving an extensive array of Asian fusion, Italian and all-day dining.
With seven meeting rooms and an executive lounge with separate boardroom and business centre, the hotel provides all the necessary facilities for the rapidly developing MICE - Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions - industry in and around Dubai’s Internet City and Media City.
The property will also include an impressive array of leisure activities - two swimming pools - one on the rooftop terrace - an upscale spa with five treatment rooms, separate steam rooms for men and women and a gym that incorporates the latest sports technology.
“As part of our development strategy, we introduced the Radisson SAS ‘new breed’ hotels with great success in Europe,” said Ritter. “New breed hotels incorporate all the Radisson SAS values, including the ‘Yes I Can’ Spirit of Service that is synonymous with the brand, with the addition of technologically advanced facilities and a contemporary design ethos that make them stand out from the crowd.
“The Media City property fits the profile perfectly and gives the ideal opportunity to introduce the concept to the Middle East, where competition and demand for state-of-the-art hotels is constantly increasing.”
Individually-designed room themes and a new focus on innovative architecture and stylish bars and restaurants are the cornerstones of the new breed properties, such as the Radisson SAS Hotel, Berlin, which has the world’s largest freestanding aquarium, and the Radisson SAS Hotel, Frankfurt with its 96-metre high blue disc design.
“To introduce the new breed of Radisson SAS hotels into the new growth area of Dubai seems very fitting,” explained Ritter. “Business and leisure travellers expecting a full-service hotel experience with contemporary design and modern technology will find the Radisson SAS Hotel, Media City exceeds expectations.”
Ritter also gave an update on the company’s progress over the last year, and laid out Rezidor’s plans for the future. The Middle East was highlighted as a major growth area, with plans to introduce four more properties in Saudi Arabia alone, including two Park Inn hotels, the first ones to be introduced in the region. The other two properties are the Radisson SAS Al Madinah Paradise Resort, which will feature 212 rooms in one of the Kingdom’s holiest cities, and the Radisson SAS Royal Suite Hotel, Jeddah which opens its doors later this year.
“The launch of Park Inn in the Middle East earlier this year was a major development for Rezidor SAS. We intend to rapidly expand this fresh, hassle-free brand in the region and market the multi-brand aspect of the company,” explained Ritter.
Other upcoming Middle East properties include the Radisson SAS Resort, Al Quseir, Radisson’s third resort in Egypt, and two hotels on The Palm, Jumeirah.
