Spa Survey Gathering Momentum

The first industry benchmarking survey produced by the Spa Business Association has now been distributed to the spa sector in the UK and Ireland. Results are coming in steadily, with returns being mailed as well as completed on line, with a higher percentage so far representing businesses in the Republic of Ireland than the UK.

Joint Chairman of the Spa Business Association, Paul Simons gave a talk on Thursday (23rd Sept)  at Leisure Industry Week, which was well attended by a cross section of the spa industry.  Paul outlined the history of the spa sector, particularly in the UK and gave a comprehensive overview of how the survey developed in partnership with Topaz consulting, VisitBritain and Professional Spa Magazine.

Rounding off the talk, Paul said ” It is vital that everyone in the spa sector participates in the survey.  We need the information to talk to government, to the media, and all of us need it for business planning, but without full participation from the industry, the survey will not have the same value to all concerned.”

Results of the survey will inform a number of Spa Business Association initiatives, from Quality Standards (in partnership with VisitBritain) to National Spa Week, planned for April 2005.  The results of the report should be available later in the autumn, with a full survey report to be made available to spa professionals.

To obtain a discount on the report, as well as a number of other major benefits, spa businesses should join the Spa Business Association, by contacting the office on 01225 758214 or emailing [email protected].
