Cozumel to recognise key travel partners

The island of Cozumel will recognise key travel partners, Oct. 16-17, 2004, with its fifth annual Gala Cozumel, a weekend celebration including awards ceremonies and island events.Members of the Cozumel Hotel Association will present approximately 50 awards to the island’s top tour operators, wholesalers and airlines in the U.S., Canada and Mexico for their continued support.

More than 120 industry associates are expected to attend this year’s Gala. An awards dinner, hosted by the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa, will take place Saturday evening, Oct. 16.

Other scheduled activities include diving, snorkeling, and golfing at the Cozumel Country Club, as well as excursions to Cozumel’s Chankanaab Park, with natural aquarium and the only inland coral reef formation in the world.

“Gala gives Cozumel the perfect opportunity to thank its travel partners for their continued support of the destination,” said Gaston Cantarell Diaz, president of the Cozumel Hotel Association and private sector representative for the Cozumel Trust Fund.

“We recognise the vital role these individuals play in helping perpetuate tourism to the island and making Cozumel a premier destination.”
