bmibaby is celebrating after achieving its highest ever website share in its thirty month history. Last week (commencing 13 September 2004), the airline achieved a weekly website market share of 12.20 per cent (source: Hitwise.co.uk), outperforming full service and low cost competition. And, on two occasions during that week, bmibaby was ranked second in terms of website market share, with share surging to almost 18 per cent.
Tony Davis, managing director, said: “We’re delighted to have set a new precedence in terms of our website market share. We’re an online organisation and currently one of the UK’s most successful carriers. This is reiterated in the number of visits we’re getting to bmibaby.com and the pages that people are viewing whilst they’re online.
“There are a lot of carriers fighting for website market share and new entrants emerging all of the time. There is a clear line dividing the top airlines from the rest of the market in the web share statistics that we receive. We have worked hard to be firmly ranked within that top four and we look forward to building on that success and challenging our competitors as a real contender for the top spot in the months and years ahead.”
In July bmibaby.com was re-launched to become more consumer focussed and more uniformed, making it easier for visitors to navigate the site.
