Six Days to Win the World with United
United Airlines today unveiled an exciting sweepstakes offering consumers a
chance to win the world. Customers who book qualifying travel on United,
United Express, Ted or Star Alliance from any of the three major
Washington, D.C.-area airports automatically become eligible to win a trip
around the world. To qualify, eligible travel must be booked by June 20,
2004. “We’ve launched this special sweepstakes to help celebrate our more than
60 years of service to the Washington community,” said Martin White,
senior vice president - Marketing. “Washington is an important destination
for United customers and a key passageway for international travel to
Europe and Latin America.”
As part of United’s commitment to the Washington, D.C., area, the company
is also staging a major sales campaign to reaffirm the strategic
importance of this marketplace. On June 16 and 17, approximately 200 sales
managers and account executives from both the North American and
International sales organizations will travel to Washington, D.C. More
than 130 separate sales calls will be conducted onsite at corporate and
travel agency locations. United flight attendants will work with account
executives, distributing marketing information in the cafeterias of key
corporate accounts. Additionally, United will conduct street-marketing
efforts, with members of its sales force positioned at six different Metro
stations, including Union Station, and armed with 1,400 information
packages and other collateral.
“This is a wonderful and significant week in the Washington area for
United,” said Graham Atkinson, senior vice president - Worldwide Sales and
Alliances. “We have extremely important and long-standing customers in the
Capital region, and we’re looking forward to reminding them—and the
marketplace—why United offers so much as an air-transportation partner.”
In addition, United customers can still register to earn great travel
rewards with our “Go Around the World” promotion for travel beginning or
