Emirates Honors Top GCAA Officials

Emirates has honoured top officials of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for their support of the airline’s lead in promoting aviation training in the Middle East.Emirates’ Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum presented Awards of Appreciation to Mohammed Al Ghaith, Director General - GCAA, and Ahmed Al Haddabi, Director Flight Safety - GCAA.

Sheikh Ahmed said: “Emirates is establishing itself as the centre for aviation training within the region, helping to supply highly-qualified personnel to the aviation industry.

“We welcome the support of the GCAA in approving and monitoring the courses in accordance with the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), to ensure the courses maintain the highest possible standards.”

The Emirates Aviation College - Academic & Aerospace studies, located close to Dubai International Airport, recently inaugurated its new Air Traffic Management Training department.  Students undergo training using the state-of-the-art, three-dimensional Air Traffic Control simulator (Adacel MaxSim) which features high quality, photo textured visual scenes with exceptionally realistic weather simulation.

Other courses offered by the college include Aerospace Engineering, Electronics & Computers, Tourism Management and Business Management Studies.  The programmes lead to vocational higher BTEC diplomas awarded by UK-based Edexcel Foundation.  During their study, students are sent by the college on work-placements to various organisations within the UAE and abroad, in support of the vocations, technical and academic programmes.
