Hotelzon Acquires Travel Intelligence Group and Netbook

Hotelzon International Ltd has today acquired Travel Intelligence Group (TIG) A/S based in Copenhagen Denmark, the owner of the Swedish hotel booking technology company Netbook.
Hotelzon was established in 1972, originally under the name Hotel Marketing, and is the oldest hotel booking company in Europe. The Hotelzon Group is the market leader in B2B hotel bookings in Northern Europe and has developed a unique technology licensed to corporations, hotel booking companies, travel agencies, hotels and airlines all over the world. The Hotelzon technology offers a direct and cost-efficient booking channel to hotels. Netbook was established in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1996.


With this acquisition, the Hotelzon Group becomes a major global hotel booking technology provider with 60,000 hotels worldwide. The Group will also be one of the three biggest hotel booking companies in Europe, with an annual volume of roughly 0.5 million bookings. Among our aggregate clients are well-known global corporations such as ABB, Ericsson, Ford and Volvo. Airlines such as Finnair and Hapag-Lloyd Express use the Hotelzon technology on their websites. Hotelzon has also contracted with TUI.


The Hotelzon Group is profitable and financially stable with a sales volume of 87 M€, a pro forma turnover in 2004 of 5 M€ and a staff of 45 in four countries. The Group is owned by the founder LL.M. Mr Esa Karppinen, a private venture capital company and the management. Group President & COO is Mr Erik Floman.
