The District’s first phase of construction, which includes the Puerto Rico Convention Center, infrastructure and Promenade, is on track for completion in late 2005.  At 580,000 sq. ft./53,882 sq. m., the facility will be the largest convention center in the Caribbean and the most technologically advanced in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Not far from the new Convention Center, the Promenade is taking shape, too.  Designed to bring water into the District, the expansive greens will feature a system of lagoons running between the nearby Caribe Hilton and Condado Plaza hotels, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  Throughout the promenade will be restaurants, shops and gardens.  Parks and trails overlooking the waterways are also planned.
