The Internationally acclaimed Elemis Spa, with locations in London and Hong Kong, has opened its first, free-standing day spa in Coral Gables, Miami, USA.

Located at the exclusive new village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, the facilities at the new 7,000 sq-ft Elemis Spa include ten spa-therapy rooms, one of which is a unique suite that includes a sensory dry float bed. The sensory dry float bed is a European innovation, which enhances the experience of body wraps. After the body has been covered in exotic Elemis oils, the bed sinks and becomes a warm bed of water that cocoons the entire body.

The spa-therapy menu, created by Noella Gabriel, Elemis Aromatherapist and Director of Product and Treatment Development, based at the Elemis London day-spa, combines the touches of ten exotic cultures, including Thai Massage, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Chinese Tui-Na, Indian Ayurvedic, Japanese Shiatsu, Reflexology, Reiki, Middle Eastern, Swedish Massage and Balinese Massage. Gabriel’s challenge was to capture the magic and essence of these ancient cultures and present them in ritual form completely respectful of their native origins.

Each Elemis spa-therapy comprises of three stages. The introduction is The Welcome Touch - a sensory foot cleansing ritual using Lime-infused mitts. This is followed by the Cultural Ritual to rest the mind and encourage relaxation of the body. To gently rouse the client back to reality the Elemis Awareness Journey is performed. Using Ayurvedic techniques the therapist gently works her way around the entire body using the back of her hand over a towel to bring the body and mind back together as one. The gentle chime of the Tingsha Bells symbolises the ‘awakening’ and the end of the treatment.

Gabriel says, “Elemis has always carried the philosophy that beauty is not just skin deep, but instead is enhanced and supported by inner health and happiness. Every Elemis spa-therapy is a journey toward self-discovery through the six senses of sight, sound, touch, taste, smell and perception.”

The Elemis Spa at the Village of Merrick Park also incorporates a La Therapie Skin Clinic from Paris offering a selection of electrical facials and medi-spa therapies, including the European Ionithermie Algae-Detox, a non-invasive treatment for the firming of the body and the correction of cellulite.
Another special feature of the new Elemis Spa that is sure to be a hit with busy parents will be an on-site Kid’s Spa Club, equipped with a supervised playroom. In addition, the Elemis Spa will offer an adjoining full-service hair and nail salon so Elemis clients can achieve both inner and outer beauty during the same visit.
