Livingwell Acquires Prestigious Edinburgh Health Club

LivingWell, the UK`s leading health club operator, has added a luxurious Edinburgh health club to its portfolio, situated within the prestigious Caledonian Hotel.

The move follows Hilton International`s acquisition of the Caledonian Hotel from Queens Moat Houses plc for £44.15 million. The club, which was formerly known as Club Motivation, has over 500 members and will be rebranded as LivingWell from May 1st.

LivingWell has retained all 11 existing staff, and recently recruited a new leisure attendant. Staff are currently benefiting from LivingWell training support to help integrate them into the company.

Griff Scobbie, regional manager for the club, said: “Clear communication has helped the acquisition run smoothly from both a member and a staff prospective. LivingWell has a lot to offer staff in terms of benefits, training and career opportunities.

“Existing members, who are currently being transferred over to the LivingWell membership system, will also benefit from the additional perks of belonging to a nationwide chain of healthclubs. We will be reviewing the club`s facilities with a view to enhancing them at a later date after consulting the members about the changes they would like to see made.”

Stuart Broster, managing director, comments: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to expand the LivingWell network by acquiring the Caledonian health club. The Caledonian is a stunning hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, frequented by Scottish icons such as Sean Connery”.

Situated on Princes Street, the club is well equipped with a swimming pool, gym and weights area. Members can relax in the sauna, steam room and bubble pool, or enjoy pampering beauty treatments.
