Ariane Systems brings self-service check-in to eastern Europe

Ariane Systems, the world leader in self-service check-in/out technology for the hospitality industry, has announced that their interactive check-in kiosks are being installed at Poland’s first PURO Hotel in Wroclaw. This installation by the innovative Wroclaw-based PURO hotel chain marks the first time ever that self-service check-in kiosks have been adopted in the Polish hotel market. The new PURO Hotel Wroclaw, which opened April 1st, features a centrally located self check-in desk in the lobby with four Ariane terminals to provide guests with quick and easy access to their guestrooms.

“PURO Hotels is a new concept of its kind in Poland and will be a complete revolution in this market,” said Lukasz Piekarski, Director of the 102-room PURO Hotel in Wroclaw. “We are integrating tech-savvy solutions that are not to be found in any other hotel facility in the country, including the self-service check-in.”

Using an intuitive interface designed by Ariane, the entire process from entering a reservation number to obtaining a room keycard typically takes less than 30 seconds from start to finish. The keycard also provides access to the elevator and PURO coffee machines. Guests who need to check-in without a previous reservation may do so, and will be prompted to pay with a credit card using the terminal.

“It is part of PURO Hotels’ visionary business strategy to provide an efficient, convenient and affordable stay for the increasingly sophisticated Gen Y traveler who is comfortable with new technologies, and that model includes an array of self-service options, including advance payment,” said Robert Karkulowski, Managing Director for VISIONTIME, the exclusive distributor for Ariane Systems in the Polish market. “As technology consultants, our approach is to offer a full-service solution, which includes Ariane Systems’ self-service kiosks with a payment system by Wincor Nixdorf, both of which were a perfect match for PURO’s new intelligent properties. Besides providing convenience for the guest and saving operational costs for the properties, we have also created a completely paperless check-in and out for PURO, which fits well with the “green” and sustainable initiatives that they have set in place as a chain.”

Other integrated solutions that VISIONTIME is providing for the new PURO Hotels include Protel PMS software and HAFELE RFID door locks, which also interface with the self check-in solution. The PURO chain expects to open eight additional hotel properties in Poland by 2015, including Krakow and Warsaw locations. All PURO properties will feature self-service check-in kiosks from Ariane Systems.

“We are very proud that PURO Hotels has chosen to partner with us on Poland’s very first foray into self check-in solutions for the hotel market,” said Laurent Cardot, CEO of Ariane Systems. “We expect this technology to grow rapidly in Eastern Europe, as more and more hoteliers in this region begin to realize the many benefits of providing automated and self-service options for their guests.”
