airBaltic accused by travel agency of posting low prices on Internet

The Lithuanian Competition Council has received a complaint from a travel agency, which claims that by posting the lowest prices on flights on its Internet homepage, airBaltic is as if reducing the competitiveness of travel agencies. On the basis of this complaint, Lithuanian and Latvian Competition Councils conducted simultaneous raids at airBaltic offices in Riga and Vilnius yesterday.

airBaltic confirms its lowest prices ranging from EUR 19 per flight are available on the website www.airBaltic.com, as well as at www.airBalticTravel.com, where it is possible to purchase a flight ticket together with a hotel room, car rental, as well as tickets to various cultural and entertainment events. airBaltic also confirms that the low prices are available to any client, including travel agencies all around the world.  The name of the complainant travel agency has not been disclosed to the airline.

The current ticket sales campaign on airBaltic websites is still available today, whereas the next one is planned in several weeks.

airBaltic serves 80 destinations from its home base at Riga, Latvia. From every one of these, airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.
