Breaking Travel News investigates: Snoozebox showcases new design in London

Tired of damp campsites, toilet queues, dead phone batteries and days without a shower? Well, Snoozebox might be the answer for you.

Taking advantage of the growing sophistication of the UK festival circuit, the mobile hotel company has unveiled its wholly redesigned concept.

The innovative, portable accommodation offers all the mod cons and amenities of a hotel, from free wi-fi to air conditioning, not to mention comfortable beds and its own bathroom, but wherever and whenever it is needed.

The unit can also be set up virtually anywhere, making the perfect option for those who want to be close to the action, but with sanctuary at hand.

An improved design, which will start to be seen at events in 2015, offers six expandable units, mounted on trailers, with each being just over 7.5 square metres in size.

Two upper level room units, each offering two bedrooms, can be placed on top of the lower level, providing additional rooms.

Each room has four bunk beds cleverly stowed within the interior space which can be converted to accommodate four singles, or a double and two singles or one kingsize bed.

Each room has an en-suite bathroom with a toilet, basin and shower.

During the day, the Snoozebox hotel rooms convert to a living room with storage space, TV, free wi-fi, air-conditioning, heating and a safe.

Luxury doesn’t come cheap, however.

Though prices vary with events, a single night is likely to start at around £100, with the figure running to ten times this for a three or four day all inclusive package during a weekend event.

Lorcán Ó Murchú, chief executive of Snoozebox told Breaking Travel News: “Snoozebox is about bringing an innovative new concept to the hotel market.

“We put our guests right at the heart of the action, making their event experience bigger, deeper and longer.

“The Snoozebox Club is becoming quite the vibrant community of event enthusiasts.”

Snoozebox has partnered with leaders in engineered mobile solutions and the award-winning design firm Tangerine together with logistic and deployment experts Procar International.

The new Snoozebox has been engineered and manufactured by A. Smith Great Bentley coachbuilders and John Dennis Coachbuilders.

When travelling, the room compresses to fit a standard trailer.

When the Snoozebox is set up at its destination, the rooms double in size as the sides are expanded; an integrated covered walkway is then set in place along both sides.

Since its launch in 2011, Snoozebox has been at the heart of major sporting and cultural events, taking in a range of fixtures within the UK such as motorsports, golf and rugby as well as major festivals such as Glastonbury, Edinburgh and Hay.

In 2015, Snoozebox will be based at a host of UK events including the British Grand Prix, Isle of Man TT, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Festival, and the Rugby World Cup.

With the prototypes built, manufacturing plans are now underway and the first next generation Snoozebox portable hotel rooms will start to debut at 2015 events in the UK.

The new designs sport an impressive new livery featuring the Snoozebox ‘ZZZ’ in strong black and silver on its fleet of sleek new trailers.
