Saint Lucia expands on new airport plans

The Saint Lucia Air, Sea & Ports Authority has released an architectural impression fly-through video of the Hewanorra International Airport redevelopment project in Saint Lucia.

The expansion will see an upgrade to the runway, the introduction of a parallel taxi way, a new air traffic control tower and a new apron with six parking positions.

Five of the parking slots will be serviced by passenger loading bridges (jet bridges).

With a total area of more than 337,000 square feet, the terminal building will be accessed via the bridges and will significantly improve the passenger experience.

Special features include a two-storey facility, with departures on the top (accessed via a ramp road system) and arrivals on the ground floor.

The terminal will provide ample space for passenger throughput of up to 1.2 million passengers per year.
