Premier Inn-owner reports £1bn in losses for 2020
Whitbread has reported losses of £1 billion for financial 2020 in the wake of what the company described as the most challenging year in its more than two century long history.

Strong growth in sales at Whitbread
Whitbread – which operates Premier Inn and Costa Coffee in the UK – has reported strong sales growth for the 50 weeks to February 11th 2012. In total the group recorded an 11 per cent increase in total sales and confirmed it will create 10,000 jobs in the UK over the next three years.

Profits at Whitbread jumped by 43 per cent to £151m in the six months to September, following a surge in demand at the Costa Coffee chain. Continued expansion and a strong advertising spend also saw profits rise at the Premier Inn chain.
