Travelport-connected agents in the U.S. can now sell United Economy Plus extra-legroom seating. With this announcement, Travelport becomes the first global distribution system (GDS) to re-launch the capability for travel agents to sell Economy Plus while maintaining the processing efficiency of GDS bookings.
Net income increases at United Airlines
United Airlines has reported full-year 2013 net income of $1.084 billion, an increase of 84 per cent year-over-year, or $2.84 per diluted share, excluding $513 million of special charges. Including special charges, UAL reported full-year 2013 net income of $571 million, or $1.53 per diluted share.
Change of leadership at United
United Continental Holdings has announced Greg Hart will be named executive vice president and chief operations officer, succeeding Pete McDonald, who is retiring after nearly 45 years with United. United Airlines to boosts transatlantic flights
United Airlines has announced that it will strengthen its service between London/Heathrow and New York/Newark in 2014 by operating all its five daily flights on the route with widebody aircraft during the summer peak season, nearly doubling the number of flat-bed seats offered on upgraded flights. The move will increase overall capacity by five per cent year-on-year during the April-September period.
