United Airlines has become the first airline to offer customers Uber transportation services via its mobile app. The move is further designed to enable travellers to use the United app for services throughout their entire travel experience.

Ethiopian Airlines has announced a codeshare agreement with United Airlines, effective August 30th, 2014. Ethiopian, the largest airline in Africa, currently flies to 83 international destinations across five continents.
United Airlines reports increase in quarterly profits
United Airlines has reported second-quarter 2014 net income of $919 million, an increase of 51 per cent year-over-year, or $2.34 per diluted share, excluding $130 million of special items. Including special items, UAL reported second-quarter 2014 net income of $789 million, or $2.01 per diluted share.

Sabre Corporation and United Airlines today have confirmed the airline’s Economy Plus seats are available for sale through U.S. travel agents using the Sabre global distribution system (GDS). Global sales expect to begin June 17. United’s Economy Plus seats, which are located at the front of the Economy cabin, enable customers to stretch out with more room to work and relax.
United Airlines operates first flights into Heathrow Terminal 2
United Airlines today became the first airline to operate a flight at London Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2: The Queen’s Terminal. Flight UA958 from Chicago O’Hare, a Boeing 767-300 with 178 customers and a crew of 11 on board, arrived at gate B38 at 05:49 local time, six minutes ahead of schedule.

United to fly B787-9 from LAX to Melbourne
United Airlines will introduce non-stop flights between its hub at Los Angeles International Airport and Melbourne, Australia, effective October 26th, 2014, subject to government approval. The airline will fly the route six times weekly with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
