SWISS removes advance financial contribution requirement
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will have an annual need of some 110 new pilots in the years ahead. To date, in addition to a subsidy from the Swiss Confederation and a loan from the company, every future SWISS pilot has had to make a sizeable advance financial contribution of their own to the costs of their pilot training. This one-off contribution is now to be abolished: from June 2025 onwards, SWISS will meet these training costs, too, in the form of a loan.
SWISS to receive five further Airbus A350s
SWISS is to receive five further new Airbus A350-900 aircraft from 2027 onwards, in addition to the five which it already has on order. Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to take delivery of more new long-haul aircraft. In addition to the five Airbus A350-900s which are already on order, the airline is to receive five more of the advanced long-haul twinjet, as part of an overall investment by the Lufthansa Group.
SWISS extends its Green Fares to all its long-haul flights
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and its sister airlines within the Lufthansa Group will be extending their present Green Fares to their entire route networks with effect from 4 December 2024. By opting for a Green Fare for their long-haul flight, SWISS customers will reduce the carbon emissions generated by their individual air travel by 10 per cent through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The remaining 90 per cent of such emissions will be offset through a financial contribution to quality climate protection projects.
