Saudi Railways Organization (SRO)  – operation Dept has announced that the train schedules during the holy month of Ramadan will continue as per the approved schedule except for Train #9 traveling from Dammam to Riyadh, and SRO Train #10 starting from Riyadh to Dammam, the rest of the four trains will follow their same schedules.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have signed an accord allowing citizens travelling between the two to do so without a passport. Following an agreement signed in Bahrain immigration officials will now accept local nationals’ personal identity cards.

Officials in Saudi Arabia have granted BlackBerry maker Research in Motion a reprieve, postponing a proposed ban on the Messenger service offered by the smartphone. The Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission said a ban would not now come into force following progress “addressing its concerns”.

Saudi Arabia has confirmed telecoms firms in the country will be forced to block the messenger function from BlackBerry smartphones from Friday. Following the lead the UAE, the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission said the ban would last until the state’s three mobile phone operators “fulfil the regulatory requirements it has requested”.

Saudi Arabia is set to follow the United Arab Emirates in banning the use of certain functions of BlackBerry smart phones. Citing security concerns, officials in the UAE said a ban would come into force in October, preventing users from accessing instant messaging, email and web-browsing services.
