At a press conference today at the Shanghai International Conference Center in China, executives from Royal Caribbean International told an audience of 300 travel agents and media partners that it will introduce Voyager of the Seas to the China market in 2012.

P&O Cruises has unveiled plans to build a mega cruise ship that will rival the likes of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, and Norwegian Epic. The 17-deck vessel will carry 3,611 passengers and has been budgeted at £489 million, making it the most expensive and largest ship specifically created for the UK market. It is set to sail in March 2015.

A fuel tank at the port of the British territory of Gibraltar has exploded injuring up to 12 passengers aboard the docked Independence of the Seas. None of the injuries are believed to be serious, with all treated on board the vessel, according to a statement from the cruise line.

Royal Caribbean has confirmed it will redeploy Navigator of the Seas to the Caribbean for the 2011-12 winter season. The ship will reposition to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale (Florida), and sail a range of five to nine-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries starting on 20 November 2011.
