Quantum of the Seas is taking shape at Meyer-Weft shipyard in Germany. Royal Caribbean’s newest ship will feature more industry than firsts than any other vessel, including Ripcord by iFly and North Star, and is looking more and more like the innovative architectural designs every day.
Changes at the top for Royal Caribbean in UK
The new Royal Caribbean management structure for the new UK & Ireland is taking shape with the appointment of hospitality and leisure industry veteran Stuart Leven to the role of managing director. In addition, Dominic Paul is taking on an expanded role as vice president, international, reporting directly to Royal Caribbean International president, Adam Goldstein.

Royal Caribbean International begins work on new Oasis-class ship
Royal Caribbean International cut the first piece of steel today for its third Oasis-class ship, marking the first construction milestone for a vessel that, at approximately 227,700 GRT, will be the world’s largest cruise ship. Royal Caribbean Cruises chairman Richard Fain and president Adam Goldstein, together with Laurent Castaing, chief executive officer of builder STX France, attended the event at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where the ship will be built.
Royal Caribbean appoints Nick Weir to vice president of entertainment
Royal Caribbean International, the cruise brand known for the best entertainment at sea, has announced the appointment of Nick Weir to vice president of entertainment. Nick will oversee the cruise line’s onboard entertainment and guest activities programming, as well as Royal Caribbean Productions, the industry’s only in-house department that creates, produces and manages the largest entertainment operation at sea.

Royal Caribbean International has launched a new app for consumer download called Penguin Ahoy! Available for free in the Apple App store, Penguin Ahoy! can be played on iPad’s and will shortly be available for iPhone’s.
Royal Caribbean chooses Oceans TV for Chinese movies
Oceans TV, a leading provider of in-cabin TV entertainment to cruise lines, has announced that it is supplying Royal Caribbean International with a Chinese movie package for their Voyager of the Seas cruise ship. Building on its success and reputation providing television content, this is the first time Oceans TV has licensed movies to the cruise line industry.
Royal Caribbean milestones for new ships
Excitement was palpable at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, earlier as Royal Caribbean International marked two important milestones in the development of its Quantum class of ships. Quantum of the Seas, scheduled to be delivered in the autumn of 2014, received its first block as the keel was officially lowered and put into place. In conjunction, Anthem of the Seas, Quantum’s sister-ship, had its first piece of steel cut, signalling the first step in the ship’s construction.
Royal Caribbean exercises option for second Genesis
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. exercised its option to build a second ship in its “Genesis Project” today. Destined to become the 24th ship in the Royal Caribbean International fleet, the 5,400-guest, 220,000-gross-registered-ton ship would be built at Aker Yards in Finland, with delivery projected for August, 2010.
Royal Caribbean announces Quantum of the Seas transatlantic route
Hot on the heels of the recent Oasis of the Seas announcement, Royal Caribbean International has announced that Quantum of the Seas will be making its inaugural 8-night westbound transatlantic voyage from Southampton on 2 November 2014, arriving in the New York area at Cape Liberty Port, New Jersey, on 10 November 2014. Bookings for Quantum of the Seas opened to loyalty programme members on 28 May 2013 and opened to the general public on 4 June.
