Priceline.com Incorporated has announced that it has changed its name to “The Priceline Group Inc.” effective immediately. The Priceline Group consists of five primary brands including Booking.com, priceline.com, agoda.com, KAYAK and rentalcars.com.

December holiday airfares are continuing their creep upwards, according to priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN). Based on the last two weeks of round-trip domestic ticket sales on priceline.com, the national average holiday airfare is $469, or 4% more expensive than airfares at this time last year. The current national average airfare is also higher than it was a month ago, when travelers would have paid an average of $444 for their holiday tickets. If purchased in early October, the average holiday fare was $430.
Priceline.com has signed a definitive agreement for the Priceline Group to acquire Kayak in a stock and cash transaction. Under the terms of the agreement, the transaction values Kayak at $1.8 billion - or $40 per share.
