On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2016, under the theme of ‘Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility’, the Pacific Asia Travel Association has announced the relaunch of its official website. PATA.com has be redesigned for universal accessibility.
Zimbabwe joins Pacific Asia Travel Association to promote Chinese tourism
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has become the first national tourism organisation from the continent of Africa to join the Pacific Asia Travel Association. The two organisations signed a letter of agreement during the annual Sanganai World Tourism Expo in Bulawayo. The agreement reinforces Zimbabwe’s determination to increase the numbers of international arrivals from influential source markets across the Asia Pacific region.
PATA elects new exectutive board
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has elected Andrew Jones, Guardian – Sanctuary Resorts, Hong Kong SAR, as Chairman of the Association’s Executive Board. He replaces Kevin B Murphy who was elected Chairman in April 2015 and who remains a member of the Executive Board as Immediate Past Chairman.
Pacific Asia Travel Association appoints Hardy as new chief
The Pacific Asia Travel Association has announced the appointment of Mario Hardy as its next chief executive, effective from November 1st, 2014. Hardy is currently the chief operations officer of PATA, a position he has held since January 15th of this year. He was approved to succeed Martin Craigs as the chief executive by the PATA executive board at the last executive board meeting held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in September 2014.
Queensland tourism set to benefit from PATA data deal
An exclusive new partnership between the Pacific Asia Travel Association and Tourism & Events Queensland will provide Queensland tourism businesses with access to the latest Asia-Pacific visitor research. The partnership will empower tourism businesses with access to a world first exclusive online visitor data, TEQmPower.
Craigs to step down as PATA chief executive
Pacific Asia Travel Association chief executive Martin Craigs is expected to announce his retirement from the role today. PATA is presently meeting at its Travel Mart 2014 event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the board of the organisation reportedly selecting a new leader for the organisation.
BBC World News signs partnership with PATA
The Pacific Asia Travel Association is has revealed BBC Global News, the owner and operator of BBC World News and bbc.com/news, as the new PATA Premier Media Partner. As a membership association advocating for the responsible development of the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry, the partnership will provide PATA the opportunity to reach more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, and over 389 million households and 1.81 million hotel rooms.
PATA renews partnership with TripAdvisor
The Pacific Asia Travel Association has announced the extension of its strategic partnership with TripAdvisor. The strategic partnership will facilitate further engagement on joint initiatives in publishing, research, surveys, events and advocacy.

PATA signs CRA training deal to boost Chinese tourism
The Pacific Asia Travel Association has signed a Master License agreement with China Ready & Accredited in order to promote the global rollout of CRA programmes to PATA members. CRA delivers a global system of training and accreditation, which provides Chinese consumers with an assurance of a pre-determined level of service quality when interacting with product and service providers outside mainland China.
