P&O Cruises has announced that its new 141,000 tons cruise ship, scheduled to enter service in spring 2015, will be named Britannia. Speaking today in London, P&O Cruises & Carnival UK chief executive officer David Dingle said: “Britannia is a most fitting name for the newest addition to P&O Cruises, which, with its long and famous heritage, remains Britain’s favourite cruise line.”
P&O Cruises names team for new ship
P&O Cruises has announced its senior management team for its new 141,000-tonne cruise ship. Captains Paul Brown and David Pembridge will alternately lead the shipboard team, supported by deputy captains Martin Allen and Hamish Sunter and executive pursers Darljit Sharma and Keith de la Mare.
P&O starts building Britain’s largest cruise ship
P&O has begun work on the largest cruise ship to be built for the UK market. Construction begun with a ‘keel-laying’ ceremony earlier, marking the beginning of the actual ship build for the as-yet unnamed 141,000 ton P&O colossus.

A ceremony on Wednesday 15 May was held to mark the keel laying of the largest cruise ship ever built for the British market will take place at the Monfalcone shipyard of Fincantieri near Trieste, Italy. The 141,000-ton cruise ship will enter service in 2015.
