Virgin Australia launches first flight from Sydney to Darwin
Virgin Australia will today take its inaugural flight from Sydney to Darwin with commercial guests on board. The direct service will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft named ‘Mindil Beach’; after Darwin’s iconic beach and will depart Sydney at 9.40am local time, arriving in at Darwin at 1.50pm local time.
Germanwings flies into the summer of 2012 with 20 new destinations
Germanwings is launching its new summer flight plan for 2012 this Sunday with several new destinations. The company is planning many maiden flights in the coming days, especially in both of its largest bases: Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart.

easyJet flights to Iceland take off from Luton Airport
Budget airline easyJet has today begun operating its new route from London Luton Airport to Reykjavik in Iceland. The inaugural flight took off from London Luton Airport this morning and will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
SATA to resume direct flights to the Azores
From Saturday 7 April, SATA International will resume direct flights from the UK to the Azores. SATA International flights will be operating every Saturday until 27 October 2012, with early afternoon departures from London Gatwick to Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel, the largest of the Azorean Islands.
Kenya Airways to start direct flights from Nairobi to New Delhi
Kenya Airways has confirmed it will launch flights to the Indian capital city of New Delhi from May 15th 2012. The service, which will depart from Nairobi, marks Kenya Airways’ 57 global destination and second in India.
Icelandair to launch twice-weekly service to Iceland from Gatwick
GatwickAirport, London’s second largest international airport, announced today that Icelandair - the national flag carrier of Iceland - is to expand its London network by starting twice-weekly flights from Gatwick to KeflavikInternationalAirport - 50 km from the capital Reykjavik. Services will start from 18 October 2012.
Air Malta moves into Birmingham Airport
Air Malta has confirmed the launch of charter flights from Birmingham Airport this summer. From May 1st, the Maltese airline will operate weekly charter flights to and from Birmingham, running until the end of October.
Spirit Airlines announces service from Minneapolis-St. Paul - Chicago and Las Vegas
Spirit Airlines today announced that it will start non-stop service from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to Chicago O’Hare and Las Vegas. On May 31, 2012, Spirit will begin three daily non-stop flights between Minneapolis and Chicago, and daily non-stop service between Minneapolis and Las Vegas.
Ryanair delivers 26 new summer routes from London
Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today announced that its 26 new summer 2012 London routes will deliver over 1.5m additional passengers p.a. at Luton and Stansted, with over 260 additional weekly flights (to Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Spain), helping besieged Londoners to escape the July/August Olympics on Ryanair’s low fares to the sun.
American Airlines announces nonstop service between Washington Reagan - Los Angeles
American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld alliance, today announced it will launch new nonstop two-class Boeing 757 service between Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on June 14, 2012. The new service will complement American’s three existing daily round-trip flights between LAX and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
