C2C makes it 3 in a row for punctuality
Top performer once again was London Fenchurch Street to Southend and Shoeburyness operator, c2c, which saw 96.3% of its services arrive at their destination on time. It’s the third month in a row that the firm has been the most punctual operator, with punctuality averaging just under 95% over the last twelve months.
Improving the railway in the Newport area
A major improvement work is due to start between East Usk and Marshfield to upgrade the signalling equipment in the area between 7 – 18 May 2011. The upgrade will significantly improve rail services for passengers travelling into and out of Newport via Cardiff, Hereford and Bristol.
Train passenger numbers increase for Royal Wedding
Train companies across the UK have said that they foresee no problems with coping with the thousands of extra people travelling to the capital to celebrate the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. According to the Association of Train operating Companies, around 400,000 visitors are expected to make their way to London by rail.
West coast main line disruption - Leighton Buzzard
At about 1700 this evening Network Rail received a report of a fire on board the 1625 London Midland service from Northampton to Euston as it approached Leighton Buzzard station.
