Munich Airport`s New Largest Solar Energy Plant
Now the sun generates electricity on the roof of Munich Airport`s new Terminal 2: On July 10, 2003 the largest solar-powered electrical plant at any civil airport worldwide went into operation. Dr. Otto Wiesheu, Bavarian Secretary of State for Economics, Transport and Technology, unveiled the solar energy system`s performance display and started its operation. The state-of-the-art system will generate 445,000 kWh per year, enough to cover the yearly electricity needs of about 155 households.
