White Lodging and Kite Realty Group Trust announced today the opening of the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott at Notre Dame.
Marriott launches luxury boutique brand
Marriott International has unveiled its long-awaited, luxury boutique brand and will open two properties in the final quarter of this year. The Edition brand, which is designed by style icon Ian Schrager, will debut its first property in Hawaii’s Waikiki Beach in October, and will be followed shortly by one in Istanbul.
Marriott boosts US hotel market
Marriott International has offered a welcome boost to the hospitality industry, confirming room rates increased for the first time in almost two years during May. North American owned properties saw rates increase by one per cent during May, suggesting the industry may be recovering from its recent slump.

Marriott has unveiled plans for seven hotels in China, with plans to double the hotel group’s footprint in the country over the next five years. Speaking at the Global Travel & Tourism Summit today in Beijing, JW Marriott also confirmed the company would invest in water conservation programmes in the country as part of its ongoing environmental commitments.

Marriott International has laid out plans for an aggressive expansion programme in China that aims to double its number of brand hotels in the country within five years, and includes inking management agreements for seven high-end hotels.
Marriott earmarks massive MENA expansion
Marriott has earmarked plans for an ambitious expansion programme across the Middle East and Africa that will include the opening of more than 40 properties by 2016. The hospitality giant will open hotels in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Ghana, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia and UAE, bringing its total in the region to 68 properties.

Marriott International will introduce its moderately-priced Courtyard by Marriott brand in Vietnam, under a management agreement announced today with CY – Ham Tan Resort Limited Company. When opened in 2012, the property will be the first high-quality, internationally-branded mid-tier hotel in the area.

Chinese group buys star of downtown LA
The Shenzhen New World Group has snapped up the foreclosed Los Angeles Marriott Downtown, in a deal worth a reported $60 million. The Chinese real estate development company has stated in will invest $13 million renovating the 469-room property, which caters to business travellers.
