Marriott forced to issue apology after China error
Marriott International has been forced to issue a grovelling apology to authorities in China after the hotel giant incorrectly labelled Tibet and Taiwan as independent countries in a survey sent out to loyalty members. To compound the error, Marriott also suggested its support for this position by liking a post on Facebook, a move it blamed on a “careless” associate.
St. Regis Hong Kong scheduled for 2019 opening
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has announced a collaboration with China Resources Property which is slated to bring the brand to Hong Kong by early 2019. Marriott International has nine properties in Hong Kong, but this will be the first property for the St. Regis brand in the city.
