Karl Lagerfield plans fashion hotel in Macau
Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is planning to enter the hospitality industry following the signing of a deal to design a 270-room signature hotel in Macau. The 270-room property is expected to open in 2017 in a 20-story tower, the Lisboa Palace, in the gambling enclave in southern China.

Macau Tourist Office launches first walking tour app
The Macau Government Tourist Office has launched an iOS app designed to complement four recently created walking tours that take visitors off the beaten tourist trail. The new app, titled ‘Step Out, Macau’, allows users to explore the walking tours in greater detail, while on the move, to give a greater travel experience.

Macau’s largest hotel set to open
Starwood is set to open its largest ever Sheraton hotel this September, within the Sands Cotai Central complex in Macau. Two new Marriott properties are billed to open within the development in 2015.

Expedia inks deal with Macau.com
Online marketing portal Macau.com is linking up with Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN), providing visitors to Macau.com with access to 149,000 hotels worldwide, via booking platform, Chameleon. Macau, which is emerging as a leading MICE destination, reported 28 million visitors in 2011.

Indonesia and Macau buck trend in Asian slowdown
As the final numbers on Asia’s 2008 tourism performance are tallied, preliminary results from different sources suggest that the winners in terms of inbound tourism included Indonesia with 17 percent and Macau with 10 percent. Southeast and South Asia tied for best performing sub-region, with average increases of 4 percent each.

Macau’s gambling market beats Las Vegas
Macau has outperformed Las Vegas in gross revenue from casino and other gaming activities in the first 10 months this year, according to a Financial Times report on Tuesday.
