Longest ever flight for LATAM as airline takes off for Melbourne, Australia
LATAM Airlines Group has announced it will operate a new, non-stop service between Santiago and Melbourne, Australia, from October 2017. The westbound Santiago-Melbourne leg – measuring more than 11,000 kilometres in distance with a flight time of approximately 15 hours – will become the longest non-stop flight in LATAM´s history.
LATAM signs codeshare with Cathay Pacific
LATAM Airlines Brasil and Cathay Pacific Airways have entered into a codeshare agreement, offering passengers increased connectivity between South America and Asia. Both airlines are members of oneworld and this agreement further enhances the alliance.
LATAM Airlines takes off for South Africa
The first LATAM Airlines flight to South Africa landed this afternoon at Johannesburg’s O. R. Tambo International Airport. Flight JJ8162 was operated by a Boeing 767 aircraft with 191 seats in Economy and 30 in Premium Business.
LATAM takes delivery of first A320neo from Airbus
LATAM Airlines Group has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo at Airbus’s headquarters in Toulouse, France. The ultra-fuel efficient aircraft – showcasing LATAM’s white, indigo and coral livery and fitted with Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines – was presented to LATAM Airlines Group chief executive, Enrique Cueto.
Brazilian recession drags down results at LATAM Airlines Group
LATAM Airlines Group reported operating income of US$1.3 million for second quarter 2016 and US$220.4 for the first half of 2016. Operating margin reached 0.1 per cent for the quarter, representing a slight decrease of 0.7 percentage points as compared to the second quarter 2015.
Rio 2016: LATAM begins special Olympic operations
This week marked the official start of LATAM Airlines Brazil’s special operation for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games throughout Brazil’s main airports. A total of more than 100 special operational initiatives were developed to efficiently serve the fans and delegations, and maintain service quality for all passengers travelling with the airline in the months of August and September.
LATAM to offer Lima-Barcelona route from December
LATAM Airlines Group has announced it will operate three weekly non-stop flights between Lima, Peru and Barcelona, Spain. The flights will begin on December 15th, 2016. Currently, around eight per cent of passengers flying on LATAM Peru’s Lima-Madrid service connect via Barcelona.
LATAM to launch new flights to Puerto Natales, Patagonia
LATAM Airlines has announced it will begin a twice-weekly seasonal service between Santiago and Puerto Natales, Patagonia, from December 6th 2016. The flights will operate until February 25th 2017. The route will offer passengers easier access during the summer months to Puerto Natales and surrounding attractions, including Torres del Paine National Park.
LATAM Airlines to welcome first A320neo
LATAM Airlines Group’s first A320neo rolled out of the Airbus Final Assembly Line in Toulouse after the installation of Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines, showcasing the airline’s new coral and indigo livery. The aircraft will continue through the next stages of production, including completion of cabin furnishing, ground and flight tests.
LATAM expands partnership with Sabre
Sabre Corporation has expanded its long-term technology agreement with LATAM Airlines Group with the implementation of its Flight Plan Manager and broadening the adoption of software-as-a-service solutions from the Sabre AirCentre operational suite. Sabre’s AirCentre Flight Plan Manager, which provides fully-automated flight planning capabilities and significant productivity savings, will help the group unify flight operations and fuel policies across its domestic operations in seven countries, as well as its international network.
Farnborough 2016: Qatar Airways to take stake in LATAM
Qatar Airways is to take up to a ten per cent stake in oneworld partner LATAM, which will be acquired in connection with a capital increase. As provided for in the subscription agreement, LATAM Airlines Group will hold an Extraordinary Shareholders Meeting no later than September 2nd, 2016 to propose a capital increase in the amount of US$613 million through the issuance of new shares at a price of US$10 per share.
