LAN Airlines and its affiliates and TAM Airlines, part of LATAM Airlines Group, have invested over US$100 million in technology projects this year to improve the passenger experience and facilitate the job of its workforce. As part of the first LAN and TAM e-d@y, an annual event to showcase the latest technological advances of LATAM Airlines Group, the airlines announced eight digital advances that seek to enhance the LAN and TAM Airlines passenger experience and provide better service before and during the flight.

LATAM Airlines Group has announced its results for the third quarter of 2014, two and a half years after the merger between LAN Airlines and TAM SA. Total revenue for the third quarter of 2014 totalled US$3,141.3 million compared to US$3,360.7 million for the same period in 2013, while the operating margin fell to 3.8 per cent compared to 7.6 per cent in 2013.

LAN and TAM Airlines have opened LATAM Airlines Group’s first VIP Lounge in Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport. The lounge is the largest in Latin America, spanning over 1,800 m². Located on the mezzanine floor of the departure area of the new Terminal 3 at the Guarulhos International Airport and with a privileged view of the airport, the lounge has capacity for 450 people.

TAM and LAN Airlines have begun transferring their international operations to the new Terminal 3 at Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo today. Meanwhile, TAM has begun to transfer its domestic operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The move is expected to be concluded by October 10th and will provide passengers with greater comfort, while also positioning Guarulhos Airport as LATAM Airlines Group’s largest international hub.

LAN, a member of LATAM Airlines Group, and Qantas, both members of the oneworld airline alliance, have reinforced their codeshare agreement and will begin offering flights within Oceania and South America. Passengers flying with LAN from Santiago de Chile to Sydney will have access via Qantas to a broad network of cities in Australia: Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, Darwin, Hobart and Alice Springs.

In an innovative move, TAM Airlines, part of LATAM Airlines Group, has announced it has offset a total of 100,000 tons of greenhouse gases, equating to five times the emissions caused by the addition of 750 domestic flights to TAM’s network for the World Cup. The initiative involves the acquisition of premium carbon credits developed by Sustainable Carbon – Projetos Ambientais, a consultancy firm specialising in solutions for climate change.

LATAM Airlines Group has announced an operating profit of $234.9 million for the fourth quarter of 2013, which represents an increase of 166 per cent compared to the $88.3 million achieved in the fourth quarter of 2012. The operating margin for the group was 6.9 per cent, up 4.4 points compared to the same period in 2012.
