Hong Kong Airlines has announced the appointment of global branding expert George Liu as chief marketing officer. Heading up Hong Kong Airlines’ branding and customer experience department, his role will be to ensure customer experience is in line with the overall company transition and business expansion from a regional airline to an international carrier.

Hong Kong Airlines and Kenya Airways, the flag carrier of Kenya, have signed a codeshare agreement to enhance connectivity in Asia. Under the agreement, Kenya Airways will place its “KQ” code on Hong Kong Airlines’ flights between Bangkok, Thailand, and Hong Kong.

Etihad Airways has expanded its codeshare agreement with Hong Kong Airlines to give air travellers enhanced connections between Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. The two airlines have obtained regulatory approval to codeshare on nine additional routes, bringing the total number of services in their codeshare agreement to 14.
Commencing on September 14th, Hong Kong Airlines will be the first and the only carrier providing direct twice-weekly flight service between Hong Kong and Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. The new service will be operated by an all-economy class Airbus A320 aircraft, further strengthening the airline’s network in Japan.

Hong Kong Airlines will launch its first daily direct service to Auckland, New Zealand on November 10th, 2016. An Airbus A332 aircraft with 283 seats, including 24 in business class, will be deployed on the route. Located in the North Island of New Zealand, Auckland is surrounded by two different harbours on the east and west side of the city.
