Etihad Airways launched its flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Abu Dhabi–Geneva route earlier, as the launch of the summer schedule. Geneva is the second Swiss destination after Zurich served by Etihad Airways’ next generation aircraft which is fast becoming the backbone of the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s long-haul fleet.

Etihad Airways and Swiss International Air Lines have launched a new codeshare partnership with bookings effective immediately. Under the agreement, Etihad Airways will have its EY flight code on Swiss services between Geneva and Zurich, two key gateway cities served in Switzerland from Abu Dhabi.

The changes allow for a simpler baggage structure as the allowance for all markets, excluding the US and Canada, is now based on total weight rather than the number of bags checked in.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has posted its best operational on-time performance results since 2009. Performance is calculated on actual flight arrival and departure times within 15 minutes of the published schedule and takes into consideration a variety of external factors including weather disruption and airspace congestion.

Etihad Aviation Group has today confirmed the appointment of Mark Powers as its new group chief financial officer. In his new role, Powers will be responsible for the finance function across the Abu Dhabi-based group’s five divisions, which comprise UAE national airline Etihad Airways, Etihad Airways Engineering, Etihad Airport Services, Hala Group and Airline Equity Partners.
