Etihad on course for 2012 profit
Etihad Airways is on course to make its first profit in 2012, according to a statement from chief executive James Hogan. The airline – which celebrated only it seventh birthday earlier this month – is on course to report profitable earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation, amortisation and rentals for 2010, with break even expected in 2011, Hogan added.
Airlines seek compromise on export-credit financing
Leading airlines – including Ryanair, Emirates, Etihad and Korean Air – have sought to diffuse a growing row over so-called export-credit financing. Speaking at Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development talks in Paris the group argued for the extension of export credits to all airlines in the US and Europe, irrespective of whether they are based in a country which manufactures aircraft.

Etihad Airways celebrates seventh birthday
Etihad Airways is celebrating its seventh birthday today, as the national airline of the United Arab Emirates continues to go from strength-to-strength. In seven years of rapid growth, Etihad has flown over 26 million passengers on more than 180,000 flights to destinations around the world. Over the same period it has seen its fleet grow to 57 aircraft.
Emirates rejects state subsidy claims
Emirates chairman Tim Clarke has angrily rejected claims made by Air France chief executive Henri Gourgeon suggesting the airline accepts government subsidies. Mr Gourgeon warned earlier this week Europe’s status as an air travel hub was “under threat” from emerging Middle Eastern carriers.
