Emirates and Qantas have enhanced their joint network as bookings opened for their new schedule between New Zealand and Australia. Among a suite of enhancements aimed at providing more convenience and better connections for travellers to and from New Zealand, Qantas has retimed its existing Christchurch-Sydney service enabling more international connections from Sydney and will launch a new Perth-Auckland service.

Emirates has announced it is to launch services to Sialkot, its fifth route to Pakistan. The service will commence from November 5th 2013 with four weekly flights operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft in a two-class configuration - 54 seats in Business Class and 183 in Economy Class.

Following its successful launch in July 2012, Emirates has announced it will commence a daily A380 service to Barcelona from February 1st 2014. Increasing overall capacity by almost 44 per cent, Emirates’ new 517 seat A380 service will be the first permanent A380 service to operate into Barcelona El Prat Airport, replacing the route’s existing Boeing 777-300ER service and offering 2,198 additional seats per week between the two cities.

Emirates has unveiled new expansion plans for Eastern Europe with the launch of daily services to Kyiv Boryspil International Airport in Kiev from January 16th 2014, marking its first route to the Ukraine. Offering a daily service, operated by an Airbus A340-500, the new flight will provide convenient global connections, via Dubai, to the country’s population of 45 million, further enhancing the nation’s burgeoning economy.
