Emirates SkyCargo breaks new ground in 2013
Emirates SkyCargo has achieved another successful year and major milestones over the past twelve months. In 2013, Emirates SkyCargo expanded its network and range of destination options for its customers by launching four new cargo-only destinations which began with Hanoi in Vietnam on February 6th, Chicago in the US on March 3rd, Kano in Nigeria on October 4th, and Quito in Ecuador on December 3rd.
Emirates celebrates new milestones in 2013
Emirates’ aircraft flew around the world more than 18,000 times in 2013, underlining its position as a global connector of people and places. Figures show the airline’s fleet travelled more than 751 million kilometres throughout the year.
Emirates to bring Airbus A380 to London Gatwick
Emirates has confirmed it will become the first airline to operate a regularly scheduled A380 service to London Gatwick airport. From March 30th, the airline’s 489-seat A380 will replace the Boeing 777-300ER on EK flight 09/10, bringing a 36 per cent increase in capacity on one of its three daily flights.
Taipei prepares to join Emirates network
With only seven weeks to go until Taipei joins Emirates’ global passenger network, the airline celebrated the countdown to launch by showcasing its famed hospitality and on board products at a VIP reception in Taiwan’s capital city. Emirates will begin a daily, non-stop service between Taipei and Dubai from February 10th 2014, establishing the first non-stop connection between Taipei and the Middle East.
Emirates flies A380 in Mauritius
Emirates has launched its 24th A380 route, working with its partners in Mauritius to say “Hello A380” in style. At the airport ceremony to welcome the first daily A380 service, Emirates signed a new and enhanced ten year commercial cooperation agreement with Air Mauritius, and a renewed memorandum of understanding with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.
Emirates launches new service to Kabul
Emirates has commenced its newest service, to Afghanistan, with flight EK 640 touching down in Kabul International Khwaja Rawash Airport earlier. Kabul is the 138th destination on the Emirates route network, and Afghanistan is the 78th country it serves.
Emirates A380 touches down in Los Angeles
Emirates has swooped into the home of the original Oscars to launch its celebrated A380 service. Packed with Hollywood movies on ice Digital Widescreen, the double-decker touched down in Los Angeles yesterday, becoming the world’s longest A380 service in operation.
Executive private jet service joins the Emirates fleet

Emirates and Corsair international sign codeshare deal
Emirates and French carrier Corsair international have signed an interline agreement that will offer Senegalese travellers seamless connections to the capital of France, Paris. Under the new agreement, customers will be able to purchase joint Emirates-Corsair itineraries, providing them more convenience connecting between Paris and West Africa.
Emirates SkyCargo expands Indian subcontinent operations
Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, is expanding its operations in the Indian subcontinent following the recent launch of Emirates services to Sialkot, the airline’s fifth route in Pakistan.
Emirates’ newest aircraft land at Concourse A
Emirates recently expanded its presence at Dubai International airport with the opening of two new retail stores in Concourse A. Featuring more than 200 items of Emirates merchandise, the stores are the airline’s eighth and ninth locations.
Emirates Group reports profits despite tough conditions
The Emirates Group has announced its half-year results which show a robust performance despite continued global economic pressure and high fuel prices. Revenues at the group reached AED42.3 billion for the first six months of its current fiscal year ending September 30th 2013, up 13 per cent from the same period last year.
