The operator and owner of London Luton Airport (LLA) are laying the foundation for up to 150 new jobs following an £11.5 million refurbishment programme that includes two new aircraft engineering and repair hangars and a new airport logistics consolidation centre. The new premises will be housed in previously vacant hangars, once owned by Monarch Airlines and acquired by LLA in February 2024.

easyJet has announced further UK growth with plans to open a three-aircraft base at Newcastle Airport in March 2026, creating around 130 direct jobs for pilots, crew and engineers and supporting around 1200* UK jobs in total. The base opening will enable easyJet to expand its network from Newcastle and serve an extensive catchment area across the North of England and Southern Scotland, helping to support vital UK connectivity outside of London.

easyJet and ATOBA Energy (ATOBA), in partnership with World Fuel Services (World Fuel) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of long-term supply of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for easyJet’s operations in Europe and the UK. The agreement supports the airline’s decarbonisation strategy and is expected to unlock the SAF value chain through the combination of ATOBA’s SAF aggregation, enabling management of pricing and supply volatility risk for airlines and will be further enhanced by World Fuel’s global jet fuel logistics, blending, storage and distribution infrastructure.

easyJet has partnered with interpreting service SignLive enabling deaf and hard of hearing customers to communicate using British Sign Language (BSL). The new free-to-use service will help remove barriers to communication for deaf and hard of hearing customers by offering the option of easily connecting via video with a certified BSL interpreter, who can provide two-way translation, and enabling a real-time conversation with easyJet’s dedicated Assistance Team.

easyJet has become the first airline in the world to trial a new state-of-the-art lower-weight paint, which will enable the operator to make further savings on fuel. easyJet and its partner Mankiewicz Aviation Coatings have developed a new system that reduces the amount of paint previously needed to create the iconic easyJet livery colours. The innovative solution has already been applied to 38 aircraft and will be rolled out gradually to easyJet’s entire fleet, with the airline due to complete the transition by 2030.
