Minor Hotels will take over the operation of the 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira in Dubai on July 1st. The property will operate under the group’s dynamic AVANI Hotels & Resorts brand as the AVANI Deira Dubai Hotel. This represents a milestone for Minor Hotels as the first AVANI hotel in the Middle East.
Dubai International sees passenger number increases
Dubai International welcomed more than 6.9 million passengers in April according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today. Passenger numbers reached 6,978,268 in April, up 7.2 per cent from the 6,510,653 guests who visited the airport in April 2015.
Investment Corporation of Dubai acquires Porto Montenegro Marina
Regent Hotels & Resorts has confirmed The Investment Corporation of Dubai, the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai, has agreed to the purchase of Porto Montenegro Marina & Resort in May 2016. The transaction marks ICD’s first investment in Montenegro and the yacht marina sector, both of which are expected to experience strong growth in coming years.

Dubai Tourism and Airbnb have signed a memorandum of understanding to help promote responsible hosting and help grow and diversify tourism in the emirate. It follows the introduction of enhanced regulations last month that make obtaining a ‘holiday home’ license more streamlined for individual tenants and homeowners who want to rent their homes to guests.
Dubai welcomes world’s largest and most powerful aircraft
Dubai World Central, Dubai’s second airport and the 20th busiest in the world for international air freight, has welcomed the world’s largest and most powerful aircraft, the Antonov 225. The aircraft, named Mriya – which means Dream in Ukrainian, made stops in Australia, Turkey and Malaysia before touching down in Dubai.
Dubai World Central reports spike in passenger traffic
Passenger traffic at Dubai World Central surged 79.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 according to the quarterly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports. Dubai’s second airport welcomed 257,813 passengers during the first three months of the year, an increase of 79.8 per cent compared to 143,374 in the corresponding period in 2015.
