Despite tourism figures highlighting a decline in UK outbound travel during quarter two of 2012, Dubai continued to perform strongly as a destination, reporting an 11 per cent increase in guest numbers. According to the latest report from the department of tourism and commerce marketing, hotel and apartment bookings in Dubai were up to 170,452 from 154,180 during the same period of 2011.

Dubai International recorded the busiest first half in its history with 27.9 million passengers passing through its three terminals between January and June this year, according to the traffic report issued today by airport operator Dubai Airports. Dubai International handled a total of 4,714,746 passengers in June, a robust growth of 16 per cent from the 4,065,809 who passed through the airport in June 2011.

Developers have confirmed Marvel Adventure, an indoor family entertainment centre spanning 350,000 square feet, will open its doors to comic book fans by the end of 2013. Located at the City of Arabia development along Emirates Road, it will include retail outlets selling Marvel merchandise, restaurants and interactive entertainment experiences with Marvel characters.
