UNCCD COP16 Presidency Highlights Stronger Synergies on Land, Climate and Nature at COP30

The five Rio Convention Presidencies (for UNFCCC, CBD and UNCCD) issued a joint call to step up cooperation across climate, biodiversity and land action agendas, presenting the first-ever shared Action Agenda declaration, the Belém Joint Statement, which signals a new, synergy-focused phase of implementation under the Rio Conventions. Youth, Indigenous Peoples, scientists, cities and governments all underscored that this must be driven by rights-based, community-led and science-informed action if it is to deliver real, on-the-ground impact.
