The murder of British honeymooner Anni Dewani in Cape Town last November has not had a negative impact on South Africa’s tourism market. Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk said that as “tragic as it was, it didn’t have any impact on the tourism market”.

Shrien Dewani has been arrested and placed on suicide watch following an altercation with a fellow patient at the Priory Hospital in Bristol. The 31-year-old millionaire, who denies ordering the killing of his wife whilst on honeymoon in Cape Town, is reported to have got into the “heated discussion” following a bad reaction to his medication. Doctors also report that his mental health has deteriorated markedly in recent weeks.
