Seven dead as private plane crashes in Canada
Five members of the same family are believed to be among those killed following a plane crash in Canada. In total seven people died as a small twin-engine turboprop plane crashed on an island off the east coast of Quebec.

New leadership for Ottawa Tourism as Crockatt steps up
Ottawa Tourism has appointed Michael Crockatt to the roles of president and chief executive, effective March 7th, 2016. “After an extensive national search that attracted candidates from across Canada and the United States, I am delighted that we been able to secure Michael for this important tourism leadership position,” said Geoff Publow, chair of the Ottawa Tourism board of directors.
Ottawa launches preparations for Canada Day 2017
Preparations are firmly underway to mark Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017 in the capital city Ottawa. Holidaymakers are invited to join in the year-long celebrations. The year will mark the sesquicentennial year of the British North America Act of July 1st, 1867, which created the country called Canada.
Air Canada to launch Glasgow-Toronto connection next summer
Air Canada announced new seasonal non-stop flights from Glasgow Airport to its Toronto hub, Toronto Pearson, beginning in summer 2016. The route will be operated by Air Canada rouge, its leisure carrier, and provide Scottish customers with convenient options when travelling to Canada for leisure or business.
Six killed in Canadian seaplane crash
Six people have been killed in a seaplane crash in the Les Bergeronnes area, in Quebec province, Canada. Four of those killed in the incident were British, according to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Five passengers and a pilot died when the Beaver aircraft in came down in woodland.
Icelandair confirms Montréal connection for spring 2016
Icelandair will begin a scheduled service from Reykjavik to Montreal, Canada in May 2016 with easy connections from all six UK airports Icelandair fly from. Montreal will be Icelandair’s fifth gateway in Canada and 16th in North America. Flights will be operated four times weekly until November 2016, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Bélanger appointed to lead Tourism Toronto
Johanne Bélanger has been appointed president and chief executive of Tourism Toronto, effective September 1st, 2015. Bélanger was president of Freeman Audio Visual Canada for the past ten years and, throughout her career, has been a globally recognised leader in exhibitions and events. She also served as chair of Tourism Toronto’s board of directors from 2012 to 2014 and has been a member of the Board since 2009.
40 pythons discovered in Canada motel room
40 pythons have been rescued from plastic storage containers in a motel room in Ontario, Canada, according to reports.
