On 9 September, Phnom Penh celebrated a historic milestone with the inauguration of Techo International Airport, the nation’s largest aviation infrastructure project. Cambodian funded and built, with a design inspired by the nation’s cultural and Angkorian heritage, the airport begins operations as a modernised hub for business and tourism. The launch was marked by the arrival of the first commercial flight operated by Air Cambodia, welcomed with a traditional water salute.

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has expanded its East Asia footprint to 23 points with the launch of two new routes via Bangkok - Da Nang, Vietnam and Siem Reap, Cambodia. These launches mark a significant milestone in the airline’s broader strategy to deepen connectivity to the region during a period of rapid growth and innovation in travel and trade. The inaugural flights to Da Nang on 2 June and Siem Reap on 3 June were celebrated with traditional water cannon salutes and warm welcomes from government dignitaries and airport officials. Emirates’ leadership teams inaugurated services at each destination.

Turkish Airlines will commence flights from Istanbul to Phnom Penh on December 10, 2025, establishing the first regular service between Europe and Cambodia’s capital. The service – marking the seventh flag carrier to fly to Phnom Penh – is set to improve trade relations between Türkiye and Cambodia, contributing to the Asian country’s economy.
