Unite to ballot over fresh strikes
Unite has declared its intention to conduct a fresh ballot of British Airways cabin crew in order to seek a mandate for further strike action. With a ballot now scheduled to run from June 29th, Unite could announce fresh industrial action at the end of July – in time for the key summer holiday period.
BA strikes deal with pension trustees
British Airways has struck a £3.7 billion deal with the trustees of the New Airways Pension Scheme and Airways Pension Scheme in an attempt to redress spiraling deficits at the airline. As part of the deal neither of the schemes will close, with BA maintaining its annual contribution of £330 million until at least 2023.

British Airways dispute ‘not about perks’
British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh has insisted the ongoing industrial dispute with the Unite trade union is not about the return of travel perks to striking workers. Addressing an industry audience at the Business Travel Market Mr Walsh stated if the deal offered by BA was accepted, travel benefits for striking cabin crew would be reinstated.

British Airways is facing further strikes by cabin crew after the latest talks with the Unite trade union failed to reach an agreement. This paves the way for another strike ballot, and if cabin crew vote for industrial action then a new wave of walk-outs could begin in the first week of August, the peak of the summer holidays.
BA launches Cancun service
British Airways is boosting its Mexico services with the launch of two direct flights a week from London Gatwick to Cancun from November 2010. The route will be served by a Boeing 777 with three cabin classes.
BA launches US private jet service
British Airways is launching a private jet service within North America and the Caribbean. The British flag carrier has teamed up with Cessna-owned CitationAir to offer a “no-frills” private set, with costs starting from $6,000 per plane per hour.
BA and Unite set for new conciliation talks
A new set of proposals to end the dispute between British Airways and the union representing its cabin crew has been unveiled by the arbitration service Acas. The two sides are expected to meet early this week in a bid to negotiate a settlement.
