British Airways welcomes first A380 to UK
British Airways has taken delivery of its first Airbus A380 today at Heathrow – the first British airline to receive the world’s largest commercial jet. The UK flag-carrier is also the first airline in Europe to operate both the A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the first two of which landed at Heathrow last week.
BA launches new Cyprus route
British Airways has announced the launch of a brand new flight route from London Gatwick to Larnaca in Cyprus. The flights were celebrated in style at Gatwick Airport by Britain’s Got Talent stars Stavros Flatley, who originally hail from the Mediterranean island.

British Airways will be the first airline in Europe to allow its customers to switch on their mobile phones and other handheld electronic devices after landing. Previously, customers have been forced to wait until their aircraft has come to a complete stop and the doors were opened before they could use their iPads, Kindles, eReaders and mobile phones.
Heathrow welcomes industry progress in noise reduction
The aviation industry’s commitment to reducing the impact of aircraft noise took another step forward at Heathrow earlier, with the arrival of British Airways’ first Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft boasts a noise footprint 60 per cent quieter than similarly sized aircraft and will be the fourth B787 to operate out of Heathrow.

British Airways is to increase its frequency to Marrakech from daily to ten flights a week and added a third weekly service to Agadir. The Marrakech services increase on October 28th with the third Agadir flight starting on October 29th 2013.
British Airways’ first Dreamliner to arrive at Heathrow
Star of stage and screen, Kim Cattrall, who was born in England, grew up in Canada and lives in the US, today began the countdown for customers to book flights on British Airways’ first Boeing 787, which is due to arrive at its new Heathrow home today. The airline is planning to serve Toronto with the 787 from September 1st and Newark, New York from October 1st, subject to regulatory approval.

British Airways is set to become the first European carrier to allow passengers to switch on mobile phones just after landing. Saving precious second, passengers will now be allowed to activate devices the moment the wheels hit the floor, rather than waiting until the aircraft has come to a stop at the gate.
British Airways to trial paperless tagging system
British Airways is to trial a new electronic bag tag that could do away with the need to have a new paper tag every time you fly. Once checked in, customers just need to hold their smartphone over the electronic tag, which automatically updates with a unique barcode containing their flight details and an easy-to-see view of their bag’s destination.

British Airways has offered its congratulations to its sponsored athlete Justin Rose, on winning the US Open - the first English player to do so in 43 years. Time-conscious British Airways customers can now make catching their flights even speedier thanks to the integration of Apple’s Passbook into the British Airways app. Now, whenever a customer downloads a mobile boarding pass, they can add it to Passbook, Apple’s virtual wallet that is pre-loaded on all Apple iPhones.

British Airways is poised to become the first airline in Europe to introduce both the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 into its fleet. The airline will take delivery into the UK of its first two 787s on consecutive days, June 26th and 27th, followed by its first A380 on July 4th.
