BA launches daily service to Malta
British Airways is launching a new daily service starting between Gatwick and Malta from March 30th, 2014. The new Malta route will be served by a combination of Boeing 737 and Airbus 319/320 aircraft.

British Airways expands hand luggage only options
British Airways is to extend choice for short-haul customers at Heathrow and London City, following the successful introduction of hand baggage only fares at Gatwick earlier this year. The hand baggage-only fares have gone on sale today for travel from September 24th between Heathrow and nine short-haul destinations: Amsterdam, Stockholm, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, Rotterdam, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Qatar Airways links with British Airways in loyalty deal
Qatar Airways has announced an immediate partnership with British Airways between the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes. Qatar Airways Privilege Club members and British Airways Executive Club members are now able to earn miles, and can begin redeeming miles as of October 1st 2013 on each other’s flights.

British Airways to fly Dreamliner on Austin route
British Airways is set to become the only airline to offer direct flights from London to Austin in Texas from 2014. Starting in early March 2014 with five flights a week before moving to daily flights on May 5th, the airline’s brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliner with its three-cabin layout will serve the route to the Texan capital.

A Boeing 747 operated by British Airways has made an emergency landing in Irkutsk, Russia. Flight BAW-39 was en route from London to Beijing when its captain reported an avionics malfunction and decided to land in the city of Irkutsk.
