British Airways makes its return to Bangkok
British Airways touched down in Bangkok last week after more than four years since flying to Thailand. The aircraft departed London Gatwick at 21:15 local time on Monday October 28, landing at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport the following day at 16:10 local time. Customers on the first flight were greeted on arrival by traditional dancers, flower garlands and local gifts.
HM Armed Forces Veteran Card to be accepted as form of ID on British Airways flights
British Airways has become the first airline to accept the HM Armed Forces Veteran Card as an acceptable form of photographic identification on domestic flights. The change in policy will mean those who have served in the Armed Forces can use their Veteran Card for travel within the UK. The move is part of the support provided to veterans by the airline, which employs hundreds of ex-Military personnel in a range of roles from flying to engineering.
BRITISH AIRWAYS TO BECOME THE LARGEST PURCHASER OF CARBON REMOVALS IN THE UK
British Airways has signed a deal to purchase more than £9 million worth of innovative carbon removals credits in the United Kingdom and overseas as part of a six-year agreement. The deal is part of an ambitious drive to accelerate the airline’s climate change efforts between now and 2030. One ground-breaking scheme in Scotland will see CO2 emissions captured from whisky distilleries and repurposed into building materials. Another, spread across multiple locations in the UK, uses an enhanced rock weathering technique to lock away carbon for thousands of years. The airline will also purchase carbon removals credits from two companies specialising in high-durability reforestation projects, increasing the amount of forested land in Scotland and Wales.
British Airways Goes Daily to Pittsburgh
From today, the vibrant city of Pittsburgh in Western Pennsylvania will be even more accessible to holidaymakers from the UK as British Airways’ direct flight from London Heathrow (LHR) to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) goes daily. Operating year-round, the flight departs London at 16:40 and lands in Pittsburgh at 20:00 LT in just over eight hours. Fares start from £507 return per person in economy.

British Airways will operate a record number of flights between North America and London for Summer 2025, offering more than 400 direct flights per week during its busiest weeks. The airline operates from 26 US cities non-stop to London, offering more flights across the pond than any other European carrier, and is the only European airline to offer a luxury First class cabin across the Atlantic to London. British Airways customers now have a wider choice of Southeast Asian holiday destinations, thanks to an increase in flights from London to Bangkok, and an expanded codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways. The airline announced earlier this year that its direct route from London Gatwick to Bangkok will return on 28 October 2024, operating three times per week to the Thai capital. As of this week, the service will increase to up to five times per week between January and March 2025.
